Green Economy Webinar: Moving toward Zero Plastic Waste- Government of Canada’s Regulatory Approach
On April 18th, Partners in Project Green (PPG) was joined by Megan Hamilton, Head of the Regulatory Cooperation and Implementation Unit within the Plastics Regulatory Affairs Division at Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC).
ECCC’s presentation focused on the Government of Canada’s regulatory approach to address plastic waste and pollution. An overview of the Single-use Plastics Prohibition Regulations was provided, with an emphasis on the prohibited items, timelines, and guidance for selecting alternatives. The presentation also provided updates on the development of proposed regulations on recycled content, recyclability and compostability labelling, as well as a federal plastics registry.
With a highly engaged audience, unfortunately we ran out of time to respond to all questions asked. ECCC has kindly taken the time to address these. Please visit our Remaining Questions & Answers Page to view ECCC’s responses.
