The Circular Economy Leaders Consortium Virtual Knowledge Session: Quantifying Emissions Impacts
On November 16th, 2022, the Circular Economy Leaders Consortium (CEC) was joined by Dr. Calvin “Cal” Lakhan with York University as our Guest Expert.
The presentation provided participants with an overview of the following:
- What tools are available to credibly quantify the life cycle impacts attributable to waste management activity (collection and diversion). What are the differences between commercial databases and free databases? What tool is most appropriate for my needs?
- What data is required to conduct an LCA of waste management activity? What data do I have? What data do I need? How do I define the scope of my LCA?
- Understanding the difference between attributional life cycle assessments and consequential life cycle assessments. Which approach best suits my needs and objectives?
- How do I communicate my results? Developing appropriate key performance indicators that go beyond carbon reporting
