Partners in Project Green shares Days of Awareness each month to spread awareness and start conversations. These days may have a social, historical, or environmental significance. Below is a small sampling of important days to acknowledge or remember this month.
International Women’s Day – March 8
International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global holiday celebrated annually on March 8 as a focal point in the women’s rights movement. IWD gives focus to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women.
This year’s theme is Inspire Inclusion, and encourages individuals to imagine a gender equal world – one that is free from bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. To learn more about this year’s theme and ways you can take action, visit www.internationalwomensday.com.
Ramadan – Begins March 10
Ramadan is the spiritual pinnacle of the year for many Muslims, providing not only an opportunity for deep spiritual focus and inner reflection, but also gatherings with community, friends and family, charitable giving, gifting, and celebration. During the month of Ramadan, Muslims who are observing fasting (not all Muslims fast!) abstain from drink (yes, even water!) and food from before sunrise to sunset.
If you are working with anyone celebrating Ramadan/have folks in your life celebrating the month, you may wish them Happy Ramadan, Ramadan Mubarak (Blessed Ramadan) or Ramadan Kareem (have a generous Ramadan).

Neurodiversity Celebration Week – March 18 – March 24
Neurodiversity Celebration Week is a worldwide initiative that challenges stereotypes and misconceptions about neurological differences. It aims to transform how neurodivergent individuals are perceived and supported by providing schools, universities, and organizations with the opportunity to recognize the many talents and advantages of being neurodivergent, while creating more inclusive and equitable cultures that celebrate differences and empower every individual.

Earth Hour has usually been associated with the symbolic “lights off” effort in support of our planet. However, since 2023 Earth Hour’s mission has changed to encourage supporters across the globe to not only switch of their lights but also encourages them to spend 60 minutes doing something – anything – positive for Earth.
